Hewn Yorkshire: a perfect dog friendly Yorkshire staycation
We love taking Loui on little staycations, and this time we headed to Hewn Yorkshire in Richmond. Located within peaceful woodland, it’s the perfect spot for a cosy holiday with your pup.

The cabins at Hewn Yorkshire – what to expect
We stayed in The Foxwood, which is bright, light, and decorated in Scandi style pale wood and soft sage tones, instantly making you feel relaxed.
Inside, there’s a cosy double bed with a Yorkshire-made mattress, a kitchenette with dining space, and a spacious wet room. You also get a huge jar of marshmallows which is such a lovely touch, and if you are holidaying with your dog – they also provide a water bowl, bags, a ball and some treats too – a very sweet gesture.

Outdoor space & Finnish hot tub
Outside, the cabin has a patio with benches, a fire pit and BBQ grill, and the highlight – your private Finnish wood fired hot tub, pre-heated for your arrival.
We also had the best time exploring the woodland paths and meadows (super secluded and quiet, perfect for early morning or late evening dog walks).

For the evening, we booked a Sauna session; the sauna itself is super aesthetic and complete with a sundeck with sun loungers and an outdoor cold shower. The views over the North Yorkshire countryside are lovely, and really add to the calm feeling of the place.

What we loved about our stay
Hewn Yorkshire is all about peace and calm. You come here and to relax – the place just has this vibe about it.
We really appreciated the cleanliness of the whole site too, and it was lovely to sit outside with a coffee, or relax by the fire.
We found The Foxwood cabin to have a perfect mix of comfort and calm vibes, and Loui absolutely loved it too.

A nice touch was receiving a Digital Guidebook – you receive it in an email before your arrive and it contains all you need to know about the place and surrounding area. Upon arrival, you also get a hard copy of the Hewn Yorkshire ‘newspaper’ telling you little facts about the place, some key points to remember, and some generally useful things for your stay.

Hewn Yorkshire location
Hewn Yorkshire is at Forcett Grange, Richmond, North Yorkshire DL11 7SQ. It is well signposted and there’s parking allocated per cabin.
