Best for: Burgers, smash burgers, burgers in Newcastle, popular burger spot Newcastle, Newcastle dining, Newcastle takeaway, pistachio kunafa desserts
Why you should visit Shakedown
Shakedown has a firm place on our list of top burger spots in town since our very first visit (you can read about it here) as the food is delish, nothing feels greasy or heavy, and the portions are super generous – you definitely get your money’s worth.

And there’s load of choice too which is always a bonus!

Our menu highlights:
Over the last few visits, we have tried a variety of menu items and each have our go to favourites.
- Super Beefed Up
- Loaded Fries
- Mozzarella Dips
- Stack Sandwich
- Cajun Skin On Fries
- Chicken Tenders
- Strawberry Junction
- Big juicy (one you won’t find reviewed in our previous blog as it was our first time trying it. It sounds familiar because it literally is the iconic burger but seriously levelled up! A crowd pleaser, you cannot go wrong with this one. Go get it!

What’s new at Shakedown
As we went to pick up some burgers, we HAD TO try their new kunafa range they have just introduced. We went for:
- strawberries with kunafa and chocolate
- waffle with kunafa and chocolate

They are worth all the hype around them – if you like pistachio – these guys do kunafa desserts sooo well, a must try!
The desserts aren’t too sweet and the pistachio flavour is there, but it is not overpowering; you still get to enjoy the taste of fresh strawberries and soft, warm waffle. It’s perfectly balanced and so delicious.

If you fancy their pistachio treats – be quick because they are limited edition so won’t be around for too long.

What we love about Shakedown
- Quick service (the girls who served us is super lovely and friendly, she deserves a shout out!)
- Delicious food
- Great portions
- Good choice
- Limited edition options that are viral for a reason

Location
You’ll find Shakedown at 6 Cavendish Road, Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne NE2 2NJ.
There is street parking available, but some streets are parking permits only at certain times so be mindful when you go.

Tips for visiting
- Perfect for sharing – portions are generous, so consider sharing sides (or even the bigger burgers!) if you’re not too hungry.
- Takeaway only – there is no sitting area to eat in at their Jesmond branch, so bear that in mind when you go. Delivery is available with the main delivery services.
- Try their limited edition desserts – I love their waffles anyway (the chocolate and strawberry one is my go to), but you can currently pick up their pistachio kunafa desserts which are definitely worth a try.
- Card only payments are accepted
