Why we keep revisiting Mangal Newcastle
Magal has been one of our go to places for quality takeaway since our very first visit (you can read a full review here). It is always a great shout when we’re in a mood for comfort food.
Not surprisingly so, as it’s owned by the same people who created Lezzet (read about Lezzet here and our second visit here).
Our menu highlights include:
- Turkish Doner Burger
- Hot Honey Burger
- Oyster Mushroom Pizza
- Cajun Fries & Twister Fries
- Hummus & Chilli Sauce
New menu at Mangal
We revisited this place recently as we’d heard they had some menu changes. This time we went for:
- Club Supreme Burger (Double buttermilk chicken, American cheese, beef bacon, Buffalo sauce, mangal mayo). It was huge and smelt insane. The chicken was tender and went beautifully with all the other toppings in this burger. 10/10.

- Halloumi Burger (Lettuce, Tomatoes, Pickles, Crunchy Slaw, sweet chilli) I LOVED it! I often go for a halloumi burger since it’s a popular veggie option but usually you’ve a choice of chilli or chilli – IYKYK! But this came fully loaded with all the burger condiments and toppings which was DELICIOUS. I’ll be ordering it again!

- Fries – because mangal fries are unreal!
- Crunchy slaw – beautiful, slightly tangy, super fresh, I only stopped eating if after Ryan asked if I was going to leave him any. Too good!
- Salad – I eat at least one salad based meal a day and this one was delicious. Simple but well balanced and the dressing was lovely and tangy.

- Pistachio cake – left describing it till last because it is a dessert but it was the first thing I’ve eaten! It is one of the best cakes I’ve had, the layers are all different taste and texture which makes eating it a real treat. You’ll find me back at Mangal in no time, ordering this again!
As always – it was a gorgeous feast and a great Friday treat! If you fancy some top quality takeaway food – you’ve got to give Mangal a try!

Why we keep going back:
- The place is super casual – great if you want to sit in
- The staff are super friendly and always make sure we are well looked after.
- The food is gorgeous. The menu has all of the classic takeaway options, as well as some Turkish influences, and a great selection of veggie options too. Even the fussiest of eaters would be happy to eat here. And I love that the menu keeps evolving and new items are being added.
Location
Mangal is located right behind Lezzet on Front Street, Four Lane Ends, Benton NE7 7XE, and has its own free car park.
Tips for visiting
- Don’t skip desserts. They aren’t your typical takeaway desserts. Top quality restaurant options
- Sit in and takeaway options available (just eat and uber eats also available)
- Opening times are: Mon – Sun: 4pm – 11pm
- It can be easy to miss as it’s right behind Lezzet, the entrance looks like you’re going into someone’s house but there is a big sign next to the entrance – walk in, you are in the right place.
- Free parking available at the location
- Come hungry as the portions are great. I have a big appetite but always leave stuffed
