Why you should visit Shakedown
Our first visit to Shakedown and it’s already made its way to our list of top burger spots in town.
The food was absolutely delish, nothing felt greasy or heavy, and the portions were super generous – you definitely get your money’s worth. And there’s load of choice too which is always a bonus!

What we like about Shakedown
- Quick service
- Delicious food
- Great portions
- Good choice

The burgers were stacked perfectly – huge patties, soft buns, and toppings that actually added something rather than just looking good on camera. I am a big fan of their signature sauce too!
The loaded fries were a dream – perfect amount of cheese and sauce, with a lovely mild kick from their signature sauce.

Our menu highlights
- Super Beefed Up – four smash patties stacked with cheese and their burger sauce which is 10/10. If you’re hungry – this is the one to go for!
- Loaded Fries – Crispy fries topped with sauce and cheesy goodness. Beautiful. We went for the Cajun ones and they had a lovely level of spice.
- Mozzarella Dips – Gooey cheese sticks with a crunchy coating. Exactly what you expect. Loved the dipping sauce!

- Stack Sandwich –if you fancy both chicken and beef patty – this is a great shout! And have you seen the size of this?!
- Cajun Skin On Fries – Spiced up fries with a gentle, smoky Cajun kick. Loved them!
- Chicken Tenders – Juicy, crispy strips of fried chicken. A generous portion too!
- Strawberry Junction – one of the nicest waffles I’ve had in a long time – it wasn’t greasy but super fluffy and really delicious. Choc and strawberries topping just made it even better

Safe to say we’ll be back. Probably very soon.
Location
You’ll find Shakedown at 6 Cavendish Road, Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne NE2 2NJ.
There is street parking available, but some streets are parking permits only at certain times so be mindful when you go.

Tips for visiting
- Takeaway only – there is no sitting area to eat in at their Jesmond branch, so bear that in mind when you go. Delivery is available with the main delivery services.
- Try their desserts – I love their waffles; perfect flavour and texture. The chocolate and strawberry one, which we tried, was gorgeous. And you can also pick your own toppings which is a great idea.

- Card only payments are accepted
- Perfect for sharing – Portions are generous, so consider sharing sides (or even the bigger burgers!) if you’re not ravenous.
- Save room for dessert – Their waffle game is strong and totally worth it. A sweet ending you won’t want to skip.
