About This is Doner
If you enjoy authentic, flame-grilled Turkish or German doner, This is Doner is a new spot you have to visit. It serves fine cuts of prime meats, seasoned with premium herbs and spices, and cooked to perfection on a spit over an open flame (you can see that this is not your standard kebab right there!).

The focus here is on homemade, quality ingredients that take doner to the next level. The food they serve here is fast, satisfying, and absolutely delicious.
And the interior is super cute – I loved the decor!

Menu highlights at This is Doner
- Gemüse Kebab: A generous serving of homemade chicken doner loaded with mixed salad, fried vegetables, feta cheese, and signature sauces, all wrapped in crispy, round pide bread. For £6.90, it’s a dish that’s hearty, fresh, and super tasty. The bread alone is absolutely divine; fresh, fluffy on the inside with a bit of a chew on the outside. It is the kind of doner bun I remember eating as a kid – super nostalgic!

- Turkish Doner: A classic, homemade Turkish minced doner with mixed salad and signature sauces, served in crispy, triangle-shaped pide bread. I think the sauces need a little mention here too – they make a proper Turkish chilli sauce which isn’t hot, but leaves a lovely hint of spice in your mouth. In my opinion, Turkish chilli sauce is hard to beat!

- Pistachio Baklava: For dessert, you can treat yourself to their pistachio baklava (which, of course, we did!). Made from crispy, layered filo pastry filled with pistachios and sweetened with honey – it’s a great way to end a delicious meal. I really liked it because they do not skimp on pistachios, full chunks and so much of it. Gorgeous.

- And if you want to make your meal a little more special, ask for their tea- served in a traditional Turkish glasses, you get the choice of standard, or apple tea. We tried both and the apple one was our favourite. It is on a sweet side but really nice to finish your meal. It is a lovely touch that you won’t see in many doner restaurants.

Why we enjoyed our visit
- Homemade quality: they cook everything from scratch using fresh, premium ingredients. You can really taste how fresh things are – especially their chilli sauce.
- Flame-grilled: The meats are roasted over an open flame, which really enhances the flavour with a bit of a smoky, charred finish.
- Quick, hearty meals: Their food is great value for money, and you can have them to takeaway, or sit in. The decor is lovely – definitely not your standard doner shop, which is why we decided to eat in.

- Simple menu: there are just a few options to choose from (which is great if you are indecisive!) but everything is really delicious.
- Friendly team: I think the food is important, but it is the staff who make the place. The staff here look after you really well and create a friendly atmosphere, where you think I’d definitely want to come back!

Tips for visiting:

- Upgrade to a meal: Add sides and drinks for £3 to turn your doner into a meal. It is definitely worth it, as those seasoned fries are absolutely delicious! And they serve cans of Irn-Bru (yesssssss)
