Best for: date night, 5D movie experience, best things to do in Newcastle, cinema and food experience, fun things to do in Newcastle
If you want to seriously impress your date – you NEED to try Eatflix! It is without a doubt one of the most fun date nights in the North East! We were supposed to try it a while ago but we had other things on, but we finally made it to try the new Eatflix! And I wish we hadn’t made excuses before and tried it sooner. It was sooooo fun – honestly one of the best date nights ever.

What is Eatflix Newcastle, and what to expect at Eatflix?
Eatflix is an immersive 5D dining and movie experience, with carefully designed menu served alongside the key food scenes in the film. So you get served what you see on the screen (or a dish/drink inspired by the scene) and can fully immerse yourself in the moment. Literally, there’s nothing not to love about this idea. Even better, it was our first time watching Ratatouille so the whole experience was brand new to us!

Eatflix menu and experience
The venue is lovely and set up like a movie theatre and a bar. There is a choice of seating options, from comfy sofas and armchairs, standard tables, to high tables with bar stools if you prefer that option.
The place really has a great feel to it and is decorated with movie posters and old school cinema decorations that make it feel really cool.
The menu tells you not only what food and drink you’ll be served, but also when – starting just 3 minutes into the movie and ending right as the film is about to finish. You get through 9 courses of food and drink (which is quite a lot – you really won’t leave hungry); We went for the standard option and I had the vegetarian one; we also had one of each – alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks option.

What we had
- Don’t eat that!
Poison Apple Cocktail – Apple Cider, Apple Sours, Grenadine, Raspberry Juice, and Aperol. Non-Alcoholic – Apple Juice, Cranberry, and Grenadine. It was lovely to start the meal and how cute is the presentation? As soon as this arrived at our table, we knew we were in for a treat…
- Oh you gotta taste this.
Creamy Garlic and Rosemary Mushrooms on Sourdough with Saffron and Smoked Sea Salt. It was actually a crazy experience to be served the food that it’s being talked about in the movie. Tucking into your mushrooms as you watch the rats on the screen debate over a mushroom. So cool.

- Stop that soup.
Leek and Potato Soup with Croutons. It was stunning. Creamy and delicious. You could believe the little chef cooked it up for you! Ha.
- Look it’s delicious but don’t steal.
Basil Smash Cocktail – Gin, Lemon Juice, Fresh Basil, Soda, and Syrup. Non-Alcoholic – Lemon Juice, Fresh Basil, Soda, and Syrup.

Second drink of the menu, it was gorgeous and the cocktail version was quite strong too. And so refreshing after the soup – basil works so well in this drink.
- He changed it as it was going out the door!
Chicken Breast on a Potato Purée with a White Truffle Sauce and Green Beans. Vegetarian – Cauliflower Steak on a Potato Purée with a White Truffle Sauce and Green Beans.

One of the nicest cauli steaks I have had and cooked to perfection. The truffle sauce was gorgeous. The chicken was cooked perfectly – the portions were really generous. As we sat in the comfy seats right at the front, I could have easily dozed off after all the hearty food I’d had so far… but I didn’t because I needed to follow the adventures of the little chef, of course!

- Now try them together.
Red Wine Spritz with a Cheese and Grape Charcuterie Wine Topper. Non-Alcoholic – Sparkling Black Grape with a Cheese and Grape Charcuterie Wine Topper.
This was both a drink, and a serving of food; my mocktail was one of the nicest mocktails ever, so summery. The cocktail was delicious and, again, quite strong. And the little wine topper charcuterie was super cute. I loved the choice of cheese for that too.

- He’s not in your office, you are in his.
Prosecco with Raspberry. Non-Alcoholic – Sparkling White Grape with Raspberry. Classic and delish. The mocktail tasted like real prosecco too.

- Ratatouille, they must be joking.
Ratatouille. It was a highlight and not just for us but some other people we have spoken to on the night said the same thing. Delicious. And again I can’t tell you how fun it is to be served the food you watch the characters eat on the screen too.

- Can I interest you in dessert this evening?
French Macaron. Because we are in Paris, right. Finished with edible Eatflix logo paper, such a cute way to end the night.

Is Eatflix Newcastle worth it?
I honestly was sceptical and didn’t really think that Eatflix was something we would enjoy, which is why I put off trying it for so long. I never realised it would be as fun as it was. The food was gorgeous (I wonder if there were any little chefs helping out in the kitchen, ha) and having it arrive at your table at the same time as the same food was shown in the movie was actually so fun.
The staff did such an amazing job bringing out the food at the right time and tidying up between the courses, without any disruptions to the movie. They deserve a shout out!

Why we enjoyed our visit
- A great idea and executed in such a fun way.
- The venue, the food, the atmosphere – if you’re looking for the best date night in Newcastle, a mate date, or a family afternoon out – Eatflix is a must-visit. It’s one of the most unique dining experiences in Newcastle, combining film, food, and a fully immersive atmosphere.
Location
Eatflix Cinema is located at 269 Chillingham Rd, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE6 5LL, with street parking available nearby. The nearest Metro station to Eatflix Cinema is Chillingham Road, approximately a 10-minute walk away.
Tips for visiting
- How much does Eatflix Newcastle cost? A single ticket which includes tasting menu, admission, and seat for 1 person is £75; 2 person sofa is £165.00. A small booking fee is also added to the total price.
- Do they cater to dietary needs? They do not cater towards allergens or specific dietary requirements but they do offer a vegetarian alternative – I went for the vegetarian option which was fantastic. They also have alcohol and non-alcohol options; the non-alcohol option was marked with a blue sticker, but we never had to check it because the girl who was looking after us was excellent at making sure we were given the correct options – food and drinks wise.
- This is not a bottomless brunch and you will only receive the specific themed drinks from the movie in your package, any additional drinks can be purchased from the bar.
- Is it good for groups or just dates? I would definitely recommend it for both a date night as well as a mate date/ group outing. The tables are arranged in such a way that you can easily go as a group. It would be so fun to do this with your mates! But if your group have booked separately, you will have to inform Eatflix prior to the event if you require sitting together.
- What are the show times? Eatflix venue opens 1 hour prior to the film screening (6:30pm) and closes 1 hour after to enjoy any other refreshments you would like to purchase, as there is a full bar too.
- The events are all 16+ apart from Sunday day showings which are 10+ if accompanied by an adult.
- What movies are they showing? You can still get tickets for Ratatouille, which is being shown until early March, and they also have Matilda and Pulp Fiction pre-sale now open.
