Mangal, Front Street, Four Lane Ends, Benton NE7 7XE
If you’re looking for comfort food – I am talking burgers, fries, and pizza – with a bit of a twist, you need to try Mangal. This spot blends a hint of Turkish flavours with the takeaway classics. Owned by the same people who created Lezzet (read about Lezzet here), we knew it would be good. And we were not disappointed.

Here’s what we had and why we’ll definitely be going back.
• Turkish Doner Burger
This was such a good twist on a classic burger. A beef patty topped with caramelized onions, fresh lettuce, and their signature Mangal sauce, which had this smoky-sweet vibe that pulled it all together. If you’re into doner kebabs but want it in a burger form, this one’s for you.

• Hot Honey Burger
This was recommended to us and what a great shut it was. The chicken was crispy, the hot honey glaze gave it a perfect sweet heat, and the fresh chilies added an extra kick (but it was not spicy – just a lovely level of heat). Combined with the cheese, pickles, and a soft bun – perrrrrfection.

• Oyster Mushroom Pizza
I always appreciate a veggie option done right, and this pizza nailed it. Grilled oyster mushrooms, sweet corn, peppers, and onions on a cheesy, saucy base. It was full of flavour without feeling heavy. And the tomato sauce was something special – it tasted like fresh tomatoes, tangy and sweet at the same time. It was just delicious.

• Cajun Fries & Twister Fries
Who doesn’t love fries? They were golden and crispy, and the Cajun ones had a bit of a kick (but again – they were not hot, just a hint of spice).
• Hummus & Chilli Sauce
We went for a selection of 3 sauces, all of which were delish, but those 2 were the absolute highlight for me. The hummus was super smooth and creamy, a great little side. The portion was huge too! Not something you ever see on a takeaway menu – you can really appreciate the Turkish influence in this place. It was delicious. And then the chilli sauce. Spicy, flavourful, and good on literally everything we ordered (I did pour it over all of my food). I love a good chilli sauce but they can be a real hit and miss, but this one – wow!! I loved it. Next time we go, I will be ordering 3 pots of this and taking some home as it was stunning. I could eat it on its own, like soup, it was that good!

Why we enjoyed our visit
The place is super casual – we popped in to collect our food but decided to sit in because it was nice and chilled. The staff were super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed.
The food was gorgeous. The menu has all of the classic takeaway options, as well as some Turkish influences, and a great selection of veggie options too. Even the fussiest of eaters would be happy to eat here.
I’m already planning my next visit. I mean, the pizza alone is worth going back for, and I wouldn’t mind another round of those Cajun fries and chilli sauce either!
