The iconic, OG soufflé pancakes have finally arrived in Newcastle.
Originally from Japan, these handcrafted pancakes were once a special treat at weddings and celebrations for good fortune. Fluffy Fluffy started in 2018 and turned these into the perfect dessert for any occasion.
The fluffiest, lightest, and most delicate dessert
These are literally the lightest, fluffiest, softest pancakes you can imagine! And they taste amazing too.

We went for:
• Pistachio (with extra Nutella – I just can’t do pancakes without it, I am sure I am not the only one?!) It was stunning. I was told that it is on the sweet side so I didn’t pour all of the pistachio sauce on top and found that it was perfect. Not too sweet but just the perfect amount to taste like a decadent dessert.
• Tiramisu. It must have been absolutely spectacular because in the time it took me to take some photos of my pancake, Ryan’s pancake was all gone. So I take it as a sign it was pretty good!

We’ve tried some other soufflé pancake places before but Fluffy Fluffy are in a league of their own. Not only is the texture something else, but the flavours are super delicious. The pancakes themselves are delightful, and then you get the layer of creamy buttery goodness on top, followed by your choice of toppings. It is a recipe for a stunning dessert and I think they absolutely nail it.

Unusual drinks to pair with your pancakes
They also do some unusual drinks so it’s a great place to try something new.
We went for our usual, which we really enjoyed:
• Matcha latte
• Americano
There was also a good choice of cold drinks; I really liked the look of a strawberry matcha – I’ll probably order it next time. And it won’t be long before we go back! The hype is 100% worth it!
They literally melt in your mouth like little bits of cloud – just the most gorgeous dessert ever!
If you’ve not been yet – get yourself to Fluffy Fluffy and give them a try ASAP – you will not regret it! They’re simply phenomenal!

Why we enjoyed our visit
We visited on the soft launch night and there was a warm and inviting atmosphere; the staff were incredibly friendly, taking the time to explain the menu. The attention to detail in both the presentation and flavours of the pancakes left us really impressed. You can also watch the pancakes being made right in front of you, which is quite fun.
If you want to try something new in Newcastle—these pancakes are an experience you won’t forget.
Location
Fluffy Fluffy is located at 99-103 Grainger Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 5AE.
It is super easy to find and the central location makes it a perfect spot to stop by before or after shopping. It’s just a short walk from the Monument metro station, and there is loads of city centre parking around too.
Tips for visiting
• Arrive early: the hype is real, and the queues can grow quickly! I remember we once wanted to visit in Leeds, but the queue outside was about 30 mins long so we gave up!
• Explore the drinks menu: Their matcha latte is a standout, but if you’re feeling adventurous, try one of their unique specials.
• The soufflé pancakes are made-to-order and require slow-cooking at low temperature to achieve that perfect, fluffy texture, so allow 20 minutes wait.
• Soufflé pancakes can be served to-go. Takeout pancakes are packaged with toppings separately.
