If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you’ll know we are big fans of Indian street food, and this place has been one of our favourites for a long time.
We have visited our local branch in Newcastle countless times, as well as tried their Sunderland restaurant, and we have always had an exceptional experience.
Their food is simply stunning. Some of the highlights we have tried over time would be the following choices:

Highway Chicken
Inspired by the highway dhabas (roadside eateries along India’s highways), this dish features chicken marinated in cream and ginger, tossed in rich spices, green chillies, and crushed black peppercorns. It’s not too spicy, but has a gentle kick we really enjoy.
Beetroot Tikki
Sweet beetroot and potato balanced with aromatic spices, encased in a crispy, golden shell of delhi-ciousness.
Cauliflower Manchurian (my favourite!)
A popular Indo-Chinese dish, fried cauliflower tossed in a Manchurian sauce. I have this dish every time I visit My Delhi—it is superb. Not many places do it as well as My Delhi; if you get a chance, you need to try it. The combination of the Manchurian sauce and fried cauliflower is something else.

Butter Chicken 1950
Tandoori roasted chicken tikka smothered in a rich, creamy tomato sauce, embracing the authentic Delhi origins of this humble dish.
Grandma’s Aloo Matar
A potato and pea curry that’s a family heirloom passed down in the owner’s family. And so delicious!

Canteen Thali Trays
All trays of your chosen curry come with rice, mini naan, Indian salad, and Punjabi Dal Tadka. The portions are perfectly sized for a quick, light, and Delhi-cious lunch, though I actually left feeling pretty full due to the generous portions.

Dynamite Chicken
Crispy, succulent chicken bites tossed in a fiery sauce that balances heat and flavour soooooo perfectly. The spice level is just right for those who enjoy a bit of a kick (we find it stunning), complemented by a slight sweetness that enhances the overall experience. Yum yum yum!!!!

Firecracker Paneer
Soft, fresh paneer cubes are coated in a bold, tangy sauce with a smoky undertone. The dish is spiced to perfection, with the paneer maintaining its creamy texture and absorbing the robust flavours beautifully. This is actually the dish that made me fall in love with paneer, I never realised how delicious this ingredient can be, when cooked so beautifully in all the fragrant spices.
Creamy Methi Paneer
This dish also features rich, velvety paneer in a smooth fenugreek-infused cream sauce. The balance of earthy and aromatic spices with the gentle sweetness of the cream creates a comforting and indulgent experience. It is hard to describe the flavours as it really is one of a kind dish but we both agreed it was gorgeous.

Aslam Smoked Tandoori Chicken and Dum Pulao Rice
This dish showcases the ancient Indian smoking technique of Dhungar. It is a showstopper of a dish in terms of not just flavour, but also presentation. I loved the theatre of the cloche being lifted to reveal all the smoke. And it tastes insane too!

Kozhi Chicken Curry is another favourite.
It’s a little spicy with rich flavours and full of huge pieces of perfectly cooked chicken. A solid 10/10.
South Indian Fish Curry
Seafood lovers (like me!), you’ll adore this dish; delicately spiced fish cooked gently in a creamy coconut sauce. Even though I normally op for something spicier, it’s hands down the best fish curry I’ve ever had. EVER.

Chilli Chicken
Fried chicken in a chef’s secret hot Indo-Chinese sauce infused with chilli oil. Even the fried bits of veggies at the end were stunning. It’s hard not to lick the bowl at the end.
Potato Lattice
You also have to try their crispy potato lattice, which comes with a Delhi salsa. The spicy tomato chutney relish is so divine that I could have easily had four servings. Perfectly spicy and crazily delicious—the best start to a beautiful meal! You get this as part of their restaurant week menu so keep an eye out if you go! I honestly can’t put into words how stunning this little creation is! If you aren’t into spice – take it easy with this one.

Drinks worth a mention
We’re big fans of their Dilliwali Lemonade and Mango Lassi, which are our go-tos to cool off after the rich and spicy food (although you don’t need to go for the spicy options – that’s just our preference). Their cocktails are also top-notch: the Emperor’s Rose, with lychee liqueur and rose, is a beautifully floral and sweet drink, and the Margaritas are equally divine.
Award-winning excellence
The food and drink isn’t the only highlight at My Delhi. The staff here are always so friendly and helpful. Even though it’s always full when we go, the food arrives quickly and all together, which I love. The service is fantastic.

And if you’re lucky, you may even catch Chef Gaurav in action; he sometimes makes an appearance to speak about the inspiration and story behind the dishes paying homage to India’s culinary scene which is a fantastic thing to listen to!
Stunning Decor
Another thing worth mentioning is the decor which I find soooo cool, with authentic street vibes that transport you straight to the bustling streets of Delhi.
There are too many little details to mention about their decor, but you really need to go to appreciate how cool and well thought out it really is. My favourite feature has got to be the screens which are set up as windows and you can see videos of Indian streets as you dine; it feels just like being there. Such a great concept! Whenever we can, we opt to sit next to the screen because it really is such a cool experience. They say on their website that you’ll get to ‘Immerse yourself in an unforgettable dining experience that will transport you on a culinary journey to the bustling streets of Delhi.’ And I honestly think this one feature helps make this happen!

Why we love My Delhi
This place has us coming back and back again – we love that they frequently introduce new deals or menus, while also keeping our firm favourites on the menu.
They say that their food is Delhi-cious, but I think it is more than this – it is EXCEPTIONAL!
It’s no surprise that My Delhi won Best Street Food Restaurant in the Country in 2024. They’ve truly earned it.
If you enjoy authentic Indian food, you’ve got to give this place a try. Both locations promise a memorable dining experience packed with authentic flavours of Delhi and India. Perfect for Indian food lovers!
