The Prince Newcastle is definitely a place like no other in town. Based on the idea of an après ski bar, this venue is a really exciting addition to the bar scene in town.

The décor is obviously the first thing you notice about it, and it is gorgeous. You actually could be fooled into thinking you are in a Swiss resort (especially after a few cocktails).

I loved how authentic the place feels, and the attention to detail is amazing. You can smell all the freshly cut wood as soon as you step in—it makes the experience extra special!

We went along to the launch night in Summer, and we actually said at the time that this place would be amazing for festive nights out since it’s so naturally cozy and wintery. And it was just that when we ventured for their first festive night of the season.

The Prince’s festive makeover

They do take ‘festive’ seriously; the front of the building is covered in Christmas lights from top to bottom! It is the only building that really stands out on the street—it is lovely. And this just sets the scene for what you find on the inside. I am talking tasteful Christmas décor that is in keeping with the après ski style of the venue; it looks straight from a Netflix Christmas movieChristmassycozy, and a little cheesy in the loveliest way.

Drinks at The Prince

It was a perfect setting for the first festive mulled wine of the season. But the whole menu is quite good, and I am sure even the fussiest drinkers (if that’s a thing?) would find some good options here.

Our highlight would be the Limoncello Spritz and Espresso Martini if you are a cocktail drinker, but they also serve ice-cold Staropramen and Guinness if you’re more into that. And I also noticed that they serve shots on a ski, which we are yet to try!

The place really has a lovely feel, a must-visit when in town! Especially now, with the cozy décorfestive vibes, and live musicThe Prince is the perfect spot for a wintery, festive night out.
