Twenty Twenty, 5 Bigg Market, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1UN
Twenty Twenty has been our go-to for pizza and cocktails for ages; whether we fancy a huge pizza or just want a chilled date night – we pop in all the time. The pizza and drinks here are always amazing, and I actually enjoy reading their witty menu – it’s super fun and full of play on words, which is pretty amusing. It will have you spending more time than necessary reading it!

Delicious pizza options
Their pizzas are huge—big enough to feed a whole family—20 inches of deliciousness, so we usually share and go half and half.
Over time, we’ve tasted some incredible creative concoctions; one of my favorites was You Feta Believe It, Hail Caesar, By the Beard of Zeus, and a Mexican pizza – the name of which I can’t recall anymore. The menu changes often, so you get to try new flavors all the time. But if you like something here, you need to be quick – it can disappear from the menu equally fast (seriously considering starting a petition to the owners, Mark and Darren, to bring back By the Beard of Zeus, which was absolutely unreal!!!).

Not only are the names creative (you have to read the witty menu to really appreciate the fun spirit of this place), but the flavors match the wit and humor. The food is delish, and even the combinations that may seem pretty random work so well. You can tell that these guys invest a lot of time in developing and constantly improving their menu; everything is well thought out – even if it seems random to us non-chef people!

We also enjoy their signature sauces; we’ve sampled them all, and our top picks would be the Garlic Hot Sauce and Chilli Jam Sauce, which go perfectly with any of the pizzas as they add a little spicy kick without overpowering the pizza flavors (spicy is always my go-to, and those two are perfectly in the middle of the mild-but-with-a-kick scale).
Drinks to match
But you don’t come to Twenty Twenty without trying their cocktails (we certainly don’t!). By now, I think we’ve sampled most of their drinks menu (they have 20 Signature Cocktails), and we do have our favorites – both cocktail and mocktail-wise.

I’d recommend:
- 3 Way Margarita (The OG classic is lovely, and so is their kiwi one; we are yet to try the coconut one – if you’ve had it, let me know what you thought)
- Espresso Martini (classic for when you’re having a very demure, very mindful night)

Mocktail-wise, my top choices are:
- Lonely Fans (get it every time and it is delishhhhh)
- Oops I Did It Again (another one that we have every time we visit, so good; we both really like it)
- Needs A Name (I tried it for the first time last week, and it’s definitely made my top 3 list, so will be having it again next time)

If you like fruity flavors that aren’t too sweet and can easily be mistaken for real cocktails – you will enjoy these.
Why we love this place and keep coming back…
I always recommend this spot to anyone looking for great pizza in Newcastle. The food is consistently delicious (even though the menu changes frequently – every pizza we have had here always tasted great), the cocktails are lovely, and the atmosphere is always fun and super chilled. It’s a great place to enjoy a meal with friends or just have a casual night out. You can dress up or down – it really is the kind of place that will make you feel welcome. And as soon as you try their pizzas, you will be adding it to your favorites and keep coming back – at least we have.

Location
Twenty Twenty is located at 5 Bigg Market, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1UN. This buzzing spot is right at the center of the action in Newcastle’s city centre, with the nearest Metro stations (Monument or Central) just a short 3-4 minute walk away. There is also plenty of city centre parking available; we usually use the Dean Street multistorey car park as it’s really close and quite reasonably priced (free after 7 pm too – always a bonus). But if you really want to make the most of their cocktail deals – taxi or Metro would be the best option.
Reviews
Twenty Twenty in Newcastle has a lot of love from locals; the average rating is high, generally around 4.8 to 5 stars across Google and TripAdvisor. People are all about their massive 20-inch pizzas and fun vibes. Right in the middle of Bigg Market, it’s definitely a go-to for pizza and drinks in the city.
Tips for visiting:
- This is the place made for sharing. I’m not sure if there’s anybody who ever finished their whole 20” pizza (let me know if you have!), but even with the biggest appetite, I don’t think I could do that, as they are also super generous (read: loaded!) with the toppings. Go half and half on pizzas – you get to try two different pizzas, and if you’re still feeling peckish, their small plates look pretty good. We are yet to try them because every time we go, they add a new pizza to the menu, which we can’t not try! Maybe next time…
- Booking is recommended – this place is busy every time we visit, and we always have a booking. And in their usually cheeky style, even the reservation cards are humorous – I won’t spoil the surprise; you’ve got to see for yourself.
- Cocktails are a must-try here – both the classics and Twenty Twenty’s own original creations are delish, and they have a 2-4-1 cocktail deal on all day, every day, so it’s a no-brainer. This is why you may want to take a metro or taxi; leave your car at home – trust me, it’s no fun being the designated driver when the cocktails are this delish.
- 50% off pizza on Tuesdays – what better excuse to make your Tuesday a little more exciting? They also have lunchtime deals and Sunday Funday offers, so do check their website for current deals.
- A lot of their pizzas are already plant-based or can be made plant-based (vegan cheese, vegetarian chicken alternative), so just let the staff know. I really like it because I never feel like I have to compromise or have limited choices when I dine here.
- DOGS & DOUGH: Twenty Twenty is truly dog-friendly. They actually host monthly doggo social events (including Doggo Disco – my heart melts!), so if your pup is social and enjoys a meet-up with other pups, it’s an event to try! If you go – do let me know what you thought!
- Payment by card only – worth noting that, like many places in town, this venue has a card-only policy.
Best for: huge pizzas, delicious cocktails, fun atmosphere, city centre location, dog-friendly, best places to eat in Newcastle
