Junkyard Golf Club, Unit 4, 17 Newgate Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 5RE
If you’re looking for something fun to do in Newcastle, you have to visit Junkyard Golf Club! We had a great night, playing crazy golf, enjoying delicious food, and sipping on creative cocktails. We visited during the festive season, which gave us the chance to try some of their festive cocktails—Who Killed Santa? was definitely my favourite!

A perfect city centre activity
Situated super conveniently in Newcastle’s city centre, Junkyard Golf has 3 courses to choose from, each uniquely designed with its own fun features. Without giving any spoilers, I’d summarise them as:
- Bozo – murderous creepy clowns, the carousel of fear, and the hall of shattered dreams are all parts of this Circus FEAR-ground course. If I HAD TO choose, I would say this one is probably my favourite.
- Pablo – the Polluted Paradise theme brings you grizzly bears, toxic volcanoes, and pirate pigs on speed boats. I think in terms of creativity and a surprise element – this one is the winner.
- Gary – a smashed up mini, a ram-raided garage and a UV rave room is what you need to be prepared for when you choose this 90s Garage Scrapyard course. It’s weirdly nostalgic; we completed this one very time we visited and I still find it challenging.
And my favourite part – the slide at the end of the games. It has to be done!

Delicious food and creative cocktails
The food at Junkyard Golf Club is perfectly fitting with the feel of the place; fun and super creative. We enjoyed Pizza Twists, which were perfect as a snack—crispy, cheesy, and surprisingly satisfying. They do a range of other tasty options as well, including Loaded Nachos, Chicken Wings, and Vegan Sliders.

The cocktail menu is equally impressive. Alongside the festive and delicious Who Killed Santa? My other highlights were the Junkyard Punch and of course a Classic Margarita (because this is a perfect cocktail in my opinion and if it is on the menu when we go out, I will order it). From classic favourites to inventive concoctions, there really is something for everyone.

Location
Junkyard Golf Club is right in the city centre with a lot of parking in the area, the closest is The Gate. The nearest metro station is Newcastle Central Station, which is just a short walk away. It’s super handy if you want to go out after as you’re right in the middle of the Newcastle action.
Tips for Visiting
- Check out the specials: Junkyard Golf Club often features special events and seasonal cocktails, so keep an eye on their social media for updates. Sometimes you can win free games and other prizes too which makes the games even more exciting!
- It is a great activity to start your night out in town because it is so central.
- The snacks are really good – I’d definitely recommend trying their menu. There is a lot of seating options for food and drinks before or after the game.
