Looking for the best burgers in town? Burger Drop Whitley Bay has just opened, bringing their incredible flavours to a new location. We have been fans of Burger Drop since their first venue and it’s so good to see them expand and open new branches. They’re hands down some of the best burgers!

And they have just opened a brand-new restaurant in Whitley Bay!
We were lucky to be invited to their prelaunch event on Thursday evening and what a fab night it was. The venue is gorgeous – everything is brand new and super smartly decorated. The guys have done an incredible job creating it.

But we were obviously there mainly for the food – and as always it was delicious.

We had:
• Vegan Cheese Drop (I get it every time because it is the best vegan burger I have ever had; the texture and taste of their plant-based quarter pounder patty is just unmatched); you don’t have to be a vegetarian or vegan to enjoy it, it’s really good, especially combined with Burger Drop’s signature sauce.

• Seasoned Fries – love their fries, not many places can nail both burgers and fries and they do it soooooo well here! Always so crispy and their signature seasoning is addictive.
• Fire Beef Drop (2x smashed prime beef patties, made super hot with the Turkish chillies); if you can handle heat – it is a must try!

• Brisket Salsa Fries – seasoned fries topped with pulled beef brisket and a range of delicious toppings including cheese sauce. These are absolutely mouth-wateringly delicious, and definitely something you have to try for yourself as I don’t think any description would do those fries any justice.

• Crispy Fried Chicken Wing Pieces – the spicy and tangy Buffalo Ranch sauce balances the rich fried flavours of the chicken and makes them so, so easy to eat.
• And an extra portion of their signature Burger Drop Sauce because it is sooo good!

All of the food was as gorgeous as ever, but if you’ve been a follower for a while, you may remember I had mentioned the new menu item when we last visited which was the IceBurgs.
Naturally I had to try it this time. And all I can say is – it was a SHOWSTOPPER. Just wow! It’s their own creation and as someone who isn’t the biggest ice cream fan (or a dessert fan for that matter), I didn’t think I would love it as much as I did. The ice cream is sandwiched inside a brioche bun that has been fried and sugar-coated and is one of the nicest desserts everrrr. We shared one but next time I will be ordering one just for myself – they are stunning. There are 3 types to choose from and they all looked equally delish.

Oh and as if this wasn’t enough, we also shared a Mango Shake – thick and silky but still fresh with a lovely mango flavour – a perfect way to end such a rich meal.

I loved the buzz in the place and the atmosphere was electric on the prelaunch night ⚡️

If you haven’t tried Burger Drop before, you’re seriously missing out and NEED to try it asap. And if you have, I know I don’t need to convince you to go back. It is now even more convenient with the new branch open.

I am also super excited for Sunderland as it is their turn next for a brand new Burger Drop restaurant!

Location:
Their Whitley Bay branch is located on 177 Whitley Road, NE26 2DN, which is a short walk from the Whitley Bay metro station. There is also street parking available which is free after 5:30pm.

Tips for Visiting:
• Visit the new branchBurger Drop has several branches so you can easily find one near you – they are all recognisable as a brand but have their own little variations which is quite nice.
Eat in and take away options available. The new Whitley Bay branch is super smart and brand new so if you want to make your mealtime more of an event rather than just having their delicious burgers at home, I think it’s really nice to enjoy your food there.
Good portion sizes – I said it in my last review, and I am happy to report that this has not changed – their portion sizes are great.
• Try their desserts. I love their brownies and now I am obsessed with their IceBurgs. You don’t need to be a lover of ice cream or even a dessert person to enjoy IceBurgs – they’re just divine.
• Try the vegan options – I will happily admit that their vegan burgers are my favourite vegan burgers I’ve had to date; the taste and texture is superior to any other vegan or vegetarian option. You really don’t have to be a vegan or vegetarian to enjoy those burgers.

Reviews
Burger Drop is super popular in the North East and is still the best-selling burger on Uber Eats in the North East. They have an incredible 4.8/5 stars from over 500 Google Reviews and 4.7/5 stars from over 200 Tripadvisor reviews. Reviewers mention high-quality ingredients and generous portions.

I fully agree with those reviews and wanted to add that even though they are expanding, the place still feels like a family-run burger joint with a friendly atmosphere and staff that make you feel welcome from the moment you walk through the door. The expansion certainly has not affected the quality of their food – it is just as good as it was when we first visited.
Plus all the new menu items just make you want to go back again and again!
