Mamus Burgers & Shakes, 7 Queen’s Parade, Seaburn, Sunderland, SR68DA
If you’re a burger lover (like us), you’ll want to head over to Mamus in Seaburn, the latest smash burger joint that’s already causing a bit of a buzz amongst local foodies, and for a good reason. Trust me, it lives up to the hype.

First up, I tried the Veggilloumi burger. As a huge halloumi fan, this one was as good as they get—crispy, salty halloumi paired with a juicy veggie patty in the softest bun. It’s the perfect option for vegetarians or anyone who loves bold flavours.

Next, the Blazing Chick burger did not disappoint. The buttermilk fried chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of spice to make it unforgettable. Our host, Bash, explained it actually took them over 3 weeks to perfect the buttermilk chicken recipe, and the time was spent well. It’s definitely a standout from many other chicken burgers you might have tried elsewhere.

As it is a smash burger place, we also had to (you know, just for the research purposes) try one of those; we went for the Rasher—a classic smash burger with turkey bacon. It was absolutely packed with flavour, and that turkey bacon was the perfect crispy touch. It’s a must-try if you’re looking for something a little different from the usual beef-bacon combo.

We also sampled the lemon and herb peri peri strips—light, tangy, and ideal for those who prefer a milder kick. But if you’re like me and can handle some heat, the spicy wings are where it’s at. These were seriously spicy, so be prepared! And no visit to Mamus is complete without the loaded fries. These were next-level, with a decadent sauce that honestly might have been one of my favourite things on the menu—rich, indulgent, and completely moreish. Some of the best loaded fries I had in a while.

After all the savoury treats, we also went for something sweet; Ryan had the Go Bananas shake and I tried the Zillionaire shake. The Go Bananas was sweet and creamy with a lovely banana flavour, while the Zillionaire shake brought all the indulgence you’d expect—rich, chocolatey, and absolutely divine. You could definitely taste the Ferrero Rocher in there too – my absolute favourite.

If you’re after comfort food with bold flavours, generous portions, and SERIOUSLY good shakes,Mamus in Seaburn is the place to try.
Location:
Mamus is located near The Stack in Seaburn at 7 Queens Parade, just a few minutes walk from Seaburn Metro Station. There is also parking available right opposite the shop, which is very reasonable.
Tips for visiting:
- Come hungry! The portions are generous, and you’ll want to try everything (I swear I only came for a halloumi burger but left 3k calories later ha!).
- If you like a lot of heat, don’t skip the spicy wings.
- Pair your burger with a shake—the Go Bananas and Zillionaire shakes are both indulgent highlights, but we will be back to try the other options too.
- The seafront location is just perfect for grabbing a bite after a nice walk.
Best for:
Burgers, loaded fries, shakes, casual dining by the coast, seafront location, Seaburn

Mamus is brand new, and so I couldn’t find any Google or Tripadvisor reviews yet… but if you’re into burgers and comfort food, we can be the first ones to recommend this place.
