A Top-Notch Sunday dinner at Notch Durham
I’ve been following Notch since they first opened, and the food always looks incredible. So on Sunday, we finally decided to try it out.
We chose their Sunday dinner menu, and I can confirm that the pictures I’d seen beforehand don’t even do this place justice. It was, without a doubt, one of my favourite Sunday dinners ever.

I opted for the veggie option, which was a cauliflower steak, and it was absolutely gorgeous! Cooked perfectly al dente and bursting with flavour, it had a subtle chili kick that made it even better. All the veggies were cooked to perfection and were fresh and super tasty. I genuinely couldn’t pick a favourite, but if I absolutely HAD TO choose, I’d say the red cabbage and the potatoes (both roast and mash) were standout. And let’s talk about the Yorkshire puddings – they were absolutely huge! Ryan went for the beef option, and it was melt-in-your-mouth tender. It smelt amazing, too!

The portions were generous, so you’d be satisfied with just the main course, but in the name of research and to provide a thorough review, we had to try the sides as well. We opted for the cheesy cauliflower and pigs in blankets, which were the perfect accompaniments. Little Loui couldn’t get enough of the pigs in blankets either! I think he’s found a new obsession.

We also shared a starter of halloumi, and honestly, it was one of the best halloumi dishes I’ve ever had – perfectly paired with the dipping chili sauce. For dessert, we went for the Key lime pie. While it’s Ryan’s favourite, it is not something I’d go for, but this one was one I will not forget; a perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavours, with a light and fluffy texture that I just loved.

Notch also has an impressive cocktail menu that I fully intend to explore on our next visit, as well as their main menu as it looks absolutely stunning!
If you’re looking for a place that serves amazing Sunday lunch, Notch Durham is sure to be a hit, even with the fussiest diners!
Highly, highly recommend.
