Four Quarters: Newcastle’s Original Arcade Bar
A night of fun and games at Four Quarters: Newcastle’s Original Arcade Bar
We visited the UK’s original arcade bar in Newcastle – Four Quarters and had the loveliest date night playing games, eating pizza, and sipping on cocktails!

A cool dining experience
First things first – the food! The pizzas at Four Quarters are not just food—they’re an experience. Pizzas are actually named after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Leonardo Margherita pizza we tried was delicious!

There’s also a super hot pizza, and you actually get a prize for finishing it! I love spicy food, but the fact that there was a prize for finishing it scared me off a bit so I didn’t try it. Now I’m thinking I should have—so maybe next time!
Unusual cocktails
As a self-confessed cocktail superfan, I am usually confident with what I am ordering, but the menu at Four Quarters is so unusual, I had to study it quite a bit. The drinks are super creative and tasted really good too! My particular favourite was Honey Cake, which had hazelnut, honey, and mascarpone in it—it was like a little Christmas dessert in a glass, and it was divine.

The games
QR codes scattered around the venue offer surprises like ice-cold shots of Jägermeister—a fun addition to an already lively atmosphere (especially since we both won).
But the main attraction is obviously the games. With a huge selection of original arcade games to choose from, including Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Mortal Kombat, and Sega Rally, the night was filled with nostalgia and (not-so-friendly) competition. Do I need to mention that Ryan won every time?!

Unique venue for any occasion right in the city centre
Four Quarters isn’t just for date nights—it’s a perfect spot for catching up with friends or a mate date. I highly recommend booking a booth as it was nice to have our own comfy space to enjoy pizza and cocktails while playing Mario Kart.

I love the very unique experience at Four Quarters in Newcastle; comfort food, creative cocktails, and nostalgic arcade gaming guarantee a fun night out. Whether you’re reliving childhood memories or discovering new favourites, Four Quarters is a cool experience you need to try for yourself.
Location
Located at 54 Dean Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1PG, the bar is right in the heart of Newcastle’s city centre. Newcastle Central Station is only about a 10-minute walk away and the closest Metro station is Monument, which is around a 5-minute walk from the venue. There are also several car parks nearby, with the Dean Street Car Park being the closest, and the one we usually use.
Tips for Visiting
- Book a booth: It’s a good idea to book a booth in advance; you’ll have a cozy space to enjoy your food and drinks while playing games.
- Explore the arcade games: goes without saying, but make sure you set aside enough time to make the most of the huge range of games on offer. We had another booking straight after and I feel we could have spent a lot more time here.
- Try the hot pizza challenge: If you’re brave enough, consider attempting the hot pizza for a fun challenge – and a prize! (Then please let me know what you thought so I can decide if it is safe to do it)
Best for: arcade bar, Newcastle, date night, fun things to do
