Our experience at Hinnies
What an incredible evening at Hinnies! If you love a cosy spot that serves delicious, Geordie food – this place should be on your list to try!
We went along on a Friday night to try their seasonal set menu and it’s such good value!
They’re currently offering:
- 2 courses £21 / 3 courses £26 at lunch
- 2 courses £26 / 3 courses £31 at dinner

Seasonal set menu highlights
We went for the 3 courses and had:
Crispy North Sea squid with risotto, Manchego & lime
It was perfectly cooked, creamy and really umami. My kind of happy food!

Whipped goats’ cheese with candied walnuts, roast beetroot & honey dressing
Light but super flavoursome. The sweetness from the honey and beetroot against the tangy goats’ cheese was amazing! And the candied walnuts were unreal.

Pan-roasted chicken breast with potato gratin, sprout tops, leeks & truffled jus
The chicken was beautifully tender, the gratin super indulgent, and the truffled jus – oh. my. daysssss!! Real winter comfort food but still elegant. Absolutely 10/10.

Whole grilled sole with new potatoes, shrimp butter & samphire
It was fresh, delicate and buttery in the best way. The shrimp butter was beautiful. Rich but not overpowering.

Parmesan truffled chips
Because obviously if they’re on the menu I am ordering them 😁. Bit be warned – they’re very hard to stop eating!

Crème caramel with poached rhubarb, stem ginger & almond biscotti
Silky, not overly sweet, just delicious.

English cheeses board
Artisan biscuits, chutney, grapes. If you’re more of a savoury-after-dinner person (like me) this is a perfect end to an evening! It’s a £3 supplement but a great portion – you could easily share it (although I didn’t).

Why you should visit Hinnies
The food was stunning, but I also loved how warm and relaxed the place felt. A little special but not at all pretentious – perfect for a special occasion or just a relaxed date night. Just gorgeous.
