Best For: Authentic Thai cuisine, relaxed dining in Newcastle city centre, vegetarian and vegan-friendly options, Thai street food
What makes Thai House Café one of Newcastle’s best Thai restaurants
I always get a little more excited when I write about my favourite places, and this one is definitely one of them.
Dining at Thai House Café is a great experience; the food is spectacular and portions are great.

Top dishes to try at Thai House Café Newcastle
The place offers a range of options, from super popular Thai dishes, to little lesser known street food options, but whatever you go for, it is sure to impress.

Our highlights include:
- Thai style prawns tempura with plum sauce (my idea of heaven, huge prawns cooked beautifully. I loved it!)

- Satay skewers (so tender and we loved the dreamiest, rich peanut sauce)

- Tofu salad (crunchy and fresh, I could happily eat this daily!)

- Rice noodles in Tom Yum broth (served with mixed seafood; this was hands down one of the MOST DELICIOUS soups I have ever had! Spicy and a little sour with lemon grass. Soooooooo good!!)

- Beef Pad Thai (3 words – sweet, salty, nutty. Perfection!)

- Sticky rice and mango dessert (we have tried a fine dine version of this dessert before, and this one – much cheaper and a much bigger portion – was exactly as delicious; we’d order it every time we visit – we still talk about it now!)

Must-try Thai drinks at Thai House Café in Newcastle
We also enjoyed some of their speciality drinks.
- Red Lemonade (which was a bit like a mocktail, super tasty, really, really nice!)

- Thai Iced Coffee with Milk (it was delish)
- Thai Milk Teas (which is their most popular drink and it is absolutely lovely! We took some home as they were so good!)

It was an absolute feast and every single thing was beautiful.
The vibe at Thai House Café
I feel the vibe here is always relaxed. When we visited, it wasn’t just the food that was amazing. The staff were super friendly and the chef really has an incredible talent.

She told us a little bit about the dishes we’d tried and even gave us some banana leaves to take home as they give off a nice scent and can be used at home and in a car which was super lovely.
Since that very first visit, the place has been added to our top Newcastle restaurant list.

I think we are actually overdue our next visit!
