A special evening in a beautiful Gateshead villa

We visited Eslington Villa last night for their chefs table experience.

And it was incredible!

Set inside this beautiful Gateshead villa, the whole experience felt super special. The setting is elegant but very relaxed which we really enjoy.

The service is great, and the presentation of each dish is beautiful and so well thought out.

November chef’s table menu

We got to try their November menu, which is:

  • Blue cheese beignet & beetroot – light, crispy, with a lovely sweetness from the beetroot. A beautiful opener that sets the tone for the meal.

  • Chicken liver parfait, Madeira & brioche – rich, SUPER silky and just gorgeous with the sweetness of the wine. One of those dishes you instantly want more of.

  • Smoked haddock, braised leeks & Welsh rarebit – creamy sauce I could literally drink, super fresh, flaky fish – a gorgeous autumnal dish that’s both comforting and so, so elegant.

  • Loin of venison, celeriac fondant & pickled walnuts – beautifully cooked and tender. The pickled walnuts were a highlight for me with a gorgeous tangy flavour. And the sauce. Just wow. Slightly salty which went perfectly with the venison and puréed potatoes. A stunning dish.

  • Honey panna cotta, roasted figs & whiskey – smooth, delicate, not too sweet. I am not a whiskey drinker but the bitterness that’s came through from this was gorgeous with the fig. The texture was gorgeous – the perfect wobble.

  • Hibiscus & white chocolate – floral, light and a stunning way to finish. The perfect ending to an evening of beautiful flavours and presentation.

We thought that each course flowed beautifully into the next.

The portions were great – not too big that you struggle to get through 6 courses, but big enough that you get to really experience each dish and enjoy the flavours.

The whole menu really shows the chef’s creativity and the quality of the ingredients they use.
