Slab Shop Detroit pizza – is it worth the hype?
Guys. You are going to love this! Slab Shop – which opened recently in Newcastle is Detroit-style pizza heaven.
We have just tried it recently and oh my days!

What is so special about Slab Shop Detroit pizza
Thick, square pizzas with a super crispy, cheesy edge they call the “frico crown”. Unreal. There’s no other word for it.
Their dough is light and fluffy, but still has a good chew.
You can get smaller 6×6” slabs or go all out with 10×8” monsters.

Signature slabs and must-try pizzas
The menu is fantastic – so many options and combination you don’t see elsewhere.
We went for:
Signature Slab (Pepperoni, jalapeños, chilli caramel, parmesan)

Double Down (Double pepperoni, pepperoni crust)

House Classic (Cheese, red sauce, parsley)

Mac Daddy (Ground beef, American cheese, crispy onions)

Double Chocolate Slab cookie (Hot, baked, melt-in-the-middle cookie dough)

Detroit-style pizza done right: what makes Slab Shop stand out
- The whole order fed 4 adults and we were stuffed!
- Great value for money, and so delicious.
- It feels like the ingredients are top quality too – you can really taste all the ingredients, the pizzas are super flavoursome.

- And their dips are unreal! I mean UNREAL! The truffle and Parmesan ones were my favourite but I’d happily have any of their dips again and again! They are made fresh in house, and be warned – they are addictive.
- It’s one of those places that’s perfect if you want something a little different from your usual pizza night.
- Seriously, we’ll be back in no time – it’s just sooooooooo good!

Slab Shop Newcastle location
Slab Shop Newcastle is located at Unit WG, 33 Bellingham Drive, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE12 9SZ. This location currently offers takeaway and collection services.

Tips for visiting Slab Shop Newcastle
- The slabs are thick and filling, but don’t feel too doughy or heavy. Great if you’re a big eater, and perfect for sharing.
- The Newcastle branch is takeaway and collection only at the moment, so perfect for a night in. Some other locations have a sit in part.
- The menu is not strictly what you’re used to in a pizza shop, so be prepared to be surprised, in the best way possible. We went for some unusual options and we LOVED it. It’s a great pace to try something new.
