Our go to Italian restaurant for shopping day dining: ASK Italian
We absolutely love exploring small, independent eateries, but I do have a few favourite chain restaurants that we visit, especially when we’re out and about shopping. One of those places is ASK Italian and we’ve been visiting both the Eldon Square and the Metrocentre restaurants.

What to order at Ask Italian – our menu highlights
Although I am normally a diet coke girl, I really enjoy their lemonades. One of the highlights is how they serve it in a little shot glass when you sit down. And once you’ve tried it, you have to order the full size because it’s delish!

One of the things I like most about ASK Italian is their frequently changing menu, which means there’s always something new to try on every visit. Their range of vegetarian options keeps getting better, with some of my highlights

- Gorgonzola and Pear Pizza: A delicious pizza topped with creamy Gorgonzola cheese, caramelized pears, and walnuts. Its soooo tasty!
- Spaghetti Pomodoro: Classic spaghetti served with a fresh tomato sauce made from ripe tomatoes, basil, and a hint of garlic. It is simple but so lovely.
- Margherita Pizza: A simple yet delightful pizza with fresh mozzarella, basil, and tomato sauce. Super comforting and so good after a morning out shopping

Affordable Italian dining with ASK’s specials and set menus
ASK Italian also does frequent specials and set menus, which are perfect for a quick, mid-week lunch or post-shopping dinner. We have always found these options to be a great value, while not compromising on the taste, or portion sizes, which I think is equally important.

Location
ASK Italian have several locations in the North East, including:
- Eldon Square: Unit S2-Sidgate Greys Quarter, Intu Eldon Square, Newcastle NE1 7XF
- Metrocentre: 58 Garden Walk, Yellow Mall, intu Metrocentre, Gateshead NE11 9XZ
Tips for Visiting:
- Check the specials and limited time offers for the best deals
- Walk ins are available – while the place does fill up, especially at weekends, we have never had any issues with getting a table without a booking
- Opening times differ by store, so check their individual opening times before you go
