Best for: burgers, shakes, desserts, Newcaste takeaway, South Shields dining
They say it’s ‘crafted to perfection’ and I couldn’t agree more.
We’ve been visiting the South Shields Craft Burger branch for a while now and love it every single time – everything is always sooo good.
Our regurlar order at Craft Burger:
- Fish squared – a fish fillet burger (I get it with extra gherkins and halloumi sticks); I always go for this and it never disappoints!

- The remix – the classic with 2 fried chicken tenders. It is huge and it is delish!

- Tayta tots – little hash brown balls, just delightful

- Skin on fries – they’re that perfect not too skinny and not too thick size, I always get them when we visit
- Loaded fries -with loads of topping options to choose from

The sweet side of Craft Burger
But Craft Burger is also known for their desserts, so of course we never skip that!
- Snickers milkshake (unreal!)

- The most amazing brownies – a Ferrero one and a Snickers one are our usual go tos.

- Signature stack & pancakes with Ferrero Rocher, Kinder Bueno layered with melted milk chocolate, finished with white & chocolate curls and mixed nuts – I’ve had these a few times and I think you need to try it for yourself (although having checked their menu – thee might have been discontinued…hopefully will return!)

- American dream waffle – Reese’s, Hershey’s & M&M’s peanuts drizzled with melted white & milk chocolate & rainbow sprinkles – as good as it sounds. Just moreish and delicious!

- I love how they just go OTT with the toppings – you get so much of the sweet goodness. Honestly the perfect way to finish a delicious burger meal!

New branch, same delicious vibe
We usually visit the South Shields branch, but they’ve also got branches in Sunderland and Middlesbrough. And their most recent addition in Gosforth is super cute too – it’s a lovely new venue but it’s unmistakenly Craft Burger – with the fun decor and chill vibe. And of course the same delicious taste.

What we tried this time
We actually went on 28 May – the national burger day (what a way to celebrate, right!)
This time we decided to switch things up… a little.
Cheetos smash
This one takes the classic smash burger up a notch with a generous crumbling of American Cheetos. The Cheetos add such good texture, and of course it makes the burger even more delish. We asked for extra gherkins too – the sharpness cuts through the richness perfectly. It’s just stunning.

House chilli dip
Ideal for a bit of heat on the side. Not overpowering, just a satisfying chilli kick that goes great with fries, tenders or even dunking your burger (so so good)

Skin on fries
Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. You can ask for them plain, but I love their seasoning.

Tayta tots
Little golden hash brown style bites – crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Perfect for dipping or just picking at between bites. Although I just eat them straight from the box, before I even think about my burger. I may be addicted…

Boss box – New Yorker burger
A hearty pick that doesn’t mess about. You get to choose your burger – we went with the New Yorker – which is stacked high with onion rings and mustard. GOOD.

Loaded fries – we opted for chilli.
This could easily be a full on meal. Messy in the best way and super tasty.
Buffalo hot sauce tenders
Three crispy tenders coated in zingy buffalo hot sauce. They’ve got heat, so best to order some milder sauce too for a bit of balance.

Chipotle sauce tub
Smoky, creamy and ideal for dipping those tots, tenders or fries. Great if you get anything buffalo hot as it’s a nice hot/mild flavour combo between the two.
The best chocolate cake you can buy
And of course, we couldn’t leave without dessert…
Matilda cake. Honestly, there is nothing else like it. It’s chocolatey, gooey, moreish – literally the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had. You just have to try it.

Why Craft Burger is one of our favourite burger places – ever
We honestly can’t stay away from this place. The burgers are delish, the sides are next level, and the desserts are ridiculously good. And I am not usually even a dessert person!
