Katie O’Brien’s, 20 Collingwood Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE1 1JF
Best for: Irish bar, live music, live sports, cocktails in Newcastle
I don’t think I have to convince anybody how great Irish pubs are, and Katie O’Brien’s in Newcastle is the perfect place if you want a bit of an Irish vibe in the North East. Since it’s opened in 2023, we are yet to have a night out in town without popping in here; the atmosphere is great and I love the vibe – you never feel out of place here! Young or old, dressed up or down, whatever your taste in music – I really think it is one of the most welcoming venues in town!

Drinks at Katie O’Brien’s
Of course they serve Guinness and all the pub staples, but my highlight is their baby Guinness. Hands down, they serve the best baby Guinness I have tried in town. And what’s even better, you can get them on a paddle board! It comes with 6 shots and is one of the highlights at Katie O’Brien’s. They’re perfect for sharing with friends.

They also have a selection of cocktails, wines, prosecco – but you are in an Irish bar, so you’re probably better off getting a pint.

Why we like this place
- Great atmosphere: Katie O’Brien’s is always buzzing! The live music here is good; who doesn’t love an Irish classic!
- Super welcoming. You never feel out of place here.
- Good pints (or baby pints, ha)

Location
Katie O’Brien’s is located at 20 Collingwood Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE1 1JF. The nearest metro station is Newcastle Central Station, which is a short walk away from the pub.

Tips for Visiting:
- Catch live music: If you’re after a bit of entertainment, check out their live music schedule—there’s always something great happening.
- Enjoy live sports: they often have live sports on – we watched some of the Euros games here last year.

- Perfect for groups: they have a lot of seating options; tables bar stools, and a great dance floor for when you’ve had a few baby Guinnesses!

- Opening hours are Monday – Thursday: 5pm – 1am; Friday: 3pm – 3am; Saturday: 12pm – 3am; Sunday: 12pm – 12am

- If you want to book a table, they can reserve an area for you – before 7pm on a Friday and 3pm on a Saturday
